SuperModelFit Capella

  • Location: Shanghai, China

  • Area: 300sq.m.

  • Project Year: 2016

  • Project description: SuperModelFit is a women’s fitness studio based in Shanghai, China. SuperModelFit, a fitness lifestyle brand started by famous Chinese model Masson Ge, opened its second location since its recent creation on idyllic Jianguo Rd amongst tree-lined streets.  One of the driving concepts for the brand is creating a homey, bright, comfortable space for its all-women clientele to exercise in an environment that emphasizes no judgments.  The architecture took a leading role in this 3-story, 300 sq m space that was renovated from an old Shikumen, Shanghai's unique alleyway building typology originating in the 1920s.  The entrance through a plant-flanked courtyard into a vibrant retail corner, as you approach the reception, lends the client’s desire to expand her already strong brand into a product. Leaving the second floor ceiling's original elm wood exposed drove the layout and functionality of two separate studios that, with the slide of a removable partition, become one large spacious floor for large classes or events.

Curves Flagship

  • Location: Shanghai, China

  • Area: 313sq.m.

  • Project Year: 2014

  • Project description: SuperModelFit is a women’s fitness studio based in Shanghai, China.  Curves, a well-known global fitness brand, invited ASIG Design to design its flagship fitness center in Shanghai, China, under a fresh and exciting rebrand in the Chinese market. Focusing primarily on a burgeoning middle class of savvy 30-somethings, Chinese women, Curves set out to revamp the female-only fitness club based on a list of design principles: fresh, light, social, fun, curvy, and techie.  The space is divided into three sections: fit bar/lounge, fitness area, and internal office/change room. Curves signature purple color was used in cozy fabric walls and customized exercise equipment next to brushed stainless steel details that give the user a sense of technology and fun. Images of healthy women of all ages are sprinkled amongst clean, minimal white walls in order to inspire good health in all guests that use the space.

Topgolf Lobby

  • Location: Wuhan, China

  • Area: 300sq.m.

  • Project Year: 2024

  • Project description:  Set within Wuhan’s bustling Topgolf flagship, the 300-square-meter lobby was conceived as both a threshold and a stage for the brand’s signature experience. Tasked with adapting global Topgolf standards to a site with fixed architectural constraints, ASIG Design crafted a space that is equal parts welcoming lounge, retail showcase, and circulation hub—all oriented toward the venue’s ultimate destination: the teeline. The design narrative was anchored in the metaphor of the Yangtze River, channeling its sense of momentum and flow. Just as the river pulls its banks into rhythm, the lobby channels guests’ gaze and movement toward the golf bays. Every element—spatial arrangement, ceiling form, material choice—was orchestrated to reinforce this forward thrust. Programmatically, the lobby balances global consistency with local precision. Guest services, set to the right of the entrance, align with Topgolf standards, while the 19th Social restaurant is accessed to the left, framed by unavoidable site constraints including a stair and back-of-house entrance. Retail, a growing priority for the brand, was strategically relocated adjacent to the teeline for maximum visibility and impulse engagement. A lounge and immersive waiting area occupy the lower right, providing a comfortable pause point with seamless connection back into the retail and dining zones. Materiality amplifies the narrative of flow and arrival. Terrazzo flooring was detailed to ripple like water, while curved ceiling forms and layered millwork echo the Yangtze’s current. The result is an interplay of tactile calm and kinetic energy—an environment that both receives and propels. More than a transitional space, the Topgolf Wuhan lobby becomes a spatial prelude: a design that leads guests intuitively to their hero moment at the teeline, embodying both brand identity and local resonance in one cohesive gesture.

Nomads Nest

  • Location: Koh Phangan, Thailand

  • Area: 1,600 sqm site | 8 villas at 50 sqm each | communal space

  • Project Year: 2025

  • Project description:  Tucked into the jungle interior of Koh Phangan, Thailand, Nomads Nest is a pioneering “live + work” hub for digital nomads. Developed on a 1,600-square-meter triangular site, the project reimagines island living not as a short-term resort escape but as a long-term community where remote professionals can balance privacy, productivity, and social connection.  The client envisioned a collection of compact bungalows paired with a shared community hub that would capture the ethos of nomadic living—immersed in nature yet supported by modern amenities. Early design studies tested multiple site layouts, from linear rows to clustered geometries, each measured against privacy, circulation, and communal interaction. Environmental research played a decisive role: prevailing southwest winds informed the villa orientation, reducing cooling loads while opening interiors to passive cross-ventilation.  The final masterplan positions eight 50-square-meter studio villas along the site’s west and south edges, while the eastern side anchors the communal hub. This zoning creates a rhythm of seclusion at the periphery and vibrancy at the core. Guests move from private retreats toward a central oasis featuring a firepit lounge, a yoga canopy, an outdoor co-working pavilion shaded by latticework, and daybed seating embedded in the landscape. The villas themselves combine outdoor kitchens and porches with indoor work-sleep studios and partially open-air showers screened by two-meter jungle planting—spaces where modern comforts meet tropical immersion.  Material choices fuse modern Thai architecture with the raw textures of the island: timber structures, natural finishes, and verdant landscaping that buffers villas while weaving them into the forest canopy. The result is an atmosphere that feels rooted, intimate, and distinctly contextual.  As one of the first live-work hubs purpose-built for nomads on a Thai island, Nomads Nest challenges the conventions of both co-working and resort models. It offers not just accommodation but a framework for community—an architectural precedent that anticipates the future of remote work in tropical contexts.

BASE Boutique Hotel

  • Location: Shanghai, China

  • Area: 0sq.m.

  • Project Year: 2016

  • Project description:  BASE is a serviced apartment located in the heart of Shanghai developed by local company YiCheng Investment Development Co. The service apartment was aimed at providing housing to accommodate the ever expanding market of non-Chinese tenants with a desire for simple, modern living spaces. BASE furniture was designed and manufactured to compliment the simplicity and non-refinement of each guest room. Not only the spacial and functional demands of each and every room needed to be meticulously developed due to the old building creating no typical rooms but also because Yicheng strived for providing a range of usability and function across the room types. Solid, open-grain ash wood with a matte finish created a natural, fresh, light feeling, which was critical in the small spaces.

Goose Island Brewhouse

  • Location: Shanghai, China

  • Area: 1,000sq.m.

  • Project Year: 2017

  • Project description: ABInbev, a global consumer packaged goods giant, approached ASIG Design to design, develop and realize their Goose Island Brewhouse in Shanghai, China as a part of their multi-country global rollout.   Located at a highly anticipated new site in the heart of Shanghai, the historically sensitive Shikumen style building took center stage that nods to local Chinese beer culture and fluidly juxtaposed interior elements of the brand’s stong Chicago roots.  The interior space is completely dominated by the dramatic view of sleek stainless steel brewing vessels that contrast with a backdrop of raw urban Chicago style through red fired brick walls, white domed ceramic subway tiles and reclaimed US barn wood oak flooring. Structural modifications to the 2F floor plate opens up the space and gives way to a dramatic view of an uplit concrete pitched roof flanked by a large fan.  Half chrome bowl top lights softly warm wood ceiling panels on both floors overarching a traditional brew hall experience on 1F and a more intimate dining experience on 2F.

Yershari Vanke Qibao

  • Location: Shanghai, China

  • Area: 700sq.m.

  • Project Year: 2016

  • Project description: As Yershari continues to expand in the Chinese market so does the brand continue to refine its image to capture a stimulation hungry Chinese F&B consumer market.  The brand has spent a significant amount of time developing a multi-function storefront where passing mall patrons can quickly purchase take-away Xinjiang delicacies like packaged nuts, fresh nan bread and quintessential Xinjiang lamb kabobs, a move that has thrusted Yershari into a lucrative and rapidly expanding fast casual market segment.  The raw space coincidentally laid out similar to the brand’s hugely successful Superbrand Mall location (also design by ASIG Design) where customer seating pinwheels around a central axis performance stage, giving every customer a clear view of Yershari’s signature, periodic Xinjiang dance routines.  The stage is highlighted from above by a custom fabricated bronze metal mesh center piece and subtle hand painted moroccan patterns on four adjacent columns.  The meticulously detailed multi-function storefront delivers a modern retail bazaar feel flanked with arabian canopies, decoration hand selected from Kashgar and modern display lighting.

Kaiba Dingxi

  • Location: Shanghai, China

  • Project description: ABInbev’s continued dominance in the global beer market has expanded in to China’s lucrative and growing craft segment where they recently acquired local mainstay Kaiba with plans to revamp it in order to further appeal to the curious local market. ABI hired hired both IDEO and ASIG Design to give the brand a facelift, which resulted in a concept centered around supporting curiosities around craft beer discovering one’s self.  The brand’s Dingxi Road location was the first of three renovations finished and it focuses on an open bar and a range of seating experiences that supports a communal experience. The tap wall is king is the space and has been simplified to a glossly black ceramic tile pattern set behind customized tap handles splashed with a range of colors that represents different beers within a new innovative beer tasting system. Raw, hot rolled steel highlights, traditional Chinese brick and reclaimed elm wood creating a background for comfortable furniture also sprinkled in matching colors.

Pop restaurant & bar

  • Location: Shanghai, China

  • Area: 400sq.m.

  • Project Year: 2017

  • Project description:  POP occupies the 7th floor rooftop of Three on the Bund, a prime location with sweeping views of the Lujiazui skyline in Shanghai. The space is broken up into 2 distinct sections, bar and restaurant that both contrast and compliment each other with a seamless mix of classic ‘brasserie’ style with playful, funky Miami beach style. An overall theme of two differing sections of POP furniture was held consistent in quality materials and elegant lines. Customized top grain imported leather is used throughout the upholstery, which softens the polished detailing of marble and electroplated stainless steel tables. Slightly open grained , matte finished, solid white oak table tops and chair legs completes the look with graceful refinement.

Starbucks Chengdu Global Flagship

  • Location: Chengdu, China

  • Area: 570sq.m.

  • Project Year: 2014

  • Project Description: ASIG Design was commissioned to project lead the design of Starbucks third global flagship in China. Located at Taikoo Li in Chengdu, the historic context blending with new urban fabric of the site significantly influenced the concept by alluring the brand to nod to traditional Sichuan customs while still appealing to a fashionable young customer. Situated at a prime location of this incredibly successful new retail development, the simplicity of the open, simple facade pulls in the approaching customers by the warm glow of the interior. Large 3-meter wide fold up glass windows truly completes the connection between in and out. The three story space is knitted together by a open stair piercing through the center of the floor plate creating a variety of interesting seating options. Main materials used are terra-cotta and wood, both traditionally used in Sichuan province as building materials, warm the spacee through the ceilings, fixtures and floors.

Lanna Coffee Yuyuan

  • Location: Shanghai, China

  • Area: 25sq.m.

  • Project Year: 2014

  • Project Description: Lanna Coffee’s first retail store spawned from its successful wholesale business where it hoped to provide its homegrown Chinese coffee to a wider customer base in Shanghai. The core concept behind Lanna’s brand and retail store is ‘farm to cup’, which emphasizes freshness in local product at a time when most Chinese coffee outlets are importing coffee beans from other countries.  Designed as a progression from a natural landscape at the outside space to a refined creation of a cup of coffee at the interior, material choice was of utmost importance. Natural, local stone and reclaimed wood on the exterior mimics that of mountainous Yunnan province from where Lanna sources their coffee beans. Polished copper, oil stained teak wood and a refined menu board with Lanna’s signature Columbia blue creates a sense of refined coffee production.

Residential Projects

Gillette Home

  • Location: Kansas City, MO, USA

  • Area: 3700sq.ft.

  • Project Year: 2025

  • Project Description: Set in the suburbs of Kansas City, the Gillette Home reimagines the growing trend of Barndominiums by turning a pre-engineered shell into a fully realized family residence. Designed in 2025 for a household with multiple children, the 3,700-square-foot project explores how prefabricated building methods can be adapted into highly personalized, functional living environments. The design embraces the industrial DNA of the Barndominium typology—exposed steel trusses, soaring volumes, and clean modern lines—while layering in warmth through spatial organization and family-centric programming. At its core is a double-height atrium conceived as the “heart of the home.” Anchored by a monumental fireplace, this communal space replaces the typical TV focal point and encourages shared gatherings across generations. Programmatically, the home is divided into east and west wings on the second floor, giving structure to family life. One side houses children’s bedrooms and a generous craft studio, while the other integrates a flexible office and play zone. Below, the open kitchen and dining areas spill naturally into the atrium, reinforcing connectivity. Perhaps the most striking feature is a 40–50-foot indoor climbing wall that extends from basement to roofline—a vertical thread embodying the family’s passion for climbing and creating a dramatic sculptural presence. The architectural language balances openness and retreat: soaring atrium views are countered by intimate nooks, ensuring moments of privacy within a dynamic social framework. Exposed steel remains intentionally visible, celebrating the prefabricated shell rather than concealing it, and establishing a raw yet refined industrial-modern aesthetic. Through its inventive reprogramming of a cost-effective Barndominium shell, the Gillette Home demonstrates how prefabricated structures can transcend their utilitarian origins. The project not only provides a tailored living environment for a growing family but also expands the possibilities of residential design within this emerging American housing typology.

Our Philosophy

With deep rooted background in construction and manufacturing, we truly believe design is a outcome and solution to a design problem that advances society in some shape or form. In short, great design is at its core is: ‘to improve on previous results.

From the start of every project we approach each design problem in terms of its context, which ranges from program, site and history to function, aesthetics and market relevance. The solution to every design project for us to a meticulous process that culminates in a dynamic interface of experience, form, material and detail. Only after our solution comes to life do we possibly consider it advancement for society.
